Whether it be an office holiday party, a neighborhood cocktail hour, or a church social; this is the season of the potluck. And at a potluck there’s always one or two things that are so good, everyone wants the recipe. I think this ham and cheese slider recipe will get requests. They’re convenient too. They can be made several hours or even a day ahead So instead of bringing cookies or a cheese ball to this year’s party,  try my recipe that uses fresh Village Hearth Classic Dinner Rolls (available in white or wheat) and have your dish be the talk of the party!

Hot Ham and Cheese Mini Buns

Serves 4 – 6

Sandwiches:
1 package Village Hearth Classic Dinner Rolls
12 slices baked ham
6 slices Swiss cheese, cut in quarters
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons horseradish sauce or mustard (optional)

Poppy seed sauce:
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon finely minced onion
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and horseradish or mustard. Spread onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a slice of ham and a 2 quarter slices of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together.

Whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 20 ‒ 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and sandwiches are heated through. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.
