Serves 6 Ingredients:
  • 1 pound bacon
  • 3-oz package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 12 slices Country Hearth Cinnamon Burst bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup low-fat milk
  • Dash salt
  • Additional butter and maple syrup, optional
  Directions: Cut bacon in half and fry until crisp. Drain on paper towels. While bacon is frying, cream together cream cheese, 2 tablespoons butter, sugar and syrup. Whisk together eggs, milk, and salt in a shallow dish. Spread the brown sugar mixture on each bread slice. Top 6 slices of bread with 4 – 5 slices of bacon, then with remaining bread slices, sugar side down, making 6 sandwiches. Melt butter on medium hot griddle or frying pan. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture. Fry on each side for 3 – 5 minutes until golden brown and filling is hot. Serve with butter and maple syrup.
